ISSUE FOUND. Firefox (latest) and Win 7. Resolution Included

Postby Angel » Fri Dec 04, 2009 8:28 pm

Hello there,

I had a LOT of trouble with my Sticky Password 4.0 (SP4.0). I still have yet to hear anything back from Sticky Password but I figured it out today.

Latest version of Windows 7 with updates (Brand new install 1 week prior to SP4.0 release)
Latest version of Firefox (Brand new install 1 week prior to SP4.0 release)
Latest version of Sticky Password 4.0 (SP4.0) (didn't matter if it was 4.0.0.141 or 4.0.0.142)

I kept getting an odd message of "spAutoFill not registered" when I boot up Firefox.

The Sticky Password button would show up at the top but the drop down would state "Autofill Plug-in not installed...".

If you were to view the available add-ons for Firefox, SP4.0 would show up on the list but the only option button available was "Disable".

When you pull up the SP4.0 troubleshooting data, it would show that it was installed in Firefox.
Code: Select all
      Name: Sticky Password Autofill Engine
      Version: 4.0.122
      Company: Sticky Password developers
      Homepage: http://www.stickypassword.com

I went to my add-on list directly in my computer "C:\Users\[My username]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[random letters].default\extensions", I viewed the data of EVERY add-on folder there and found SP4.0 was in fact... NOT THERE!

---RESOLUTION---
The resolution is to go to your installed folder of SP4.0 and run the XPI file in Firefox.
Step 1) Open Firefox and open a new tab/window and leave it blank
Step 2) Open your Windows Explorer and browse your way to the install path (Default: C:\Program Files\Sticky Password\)
Step 3) Find the file named "spautofill.xpi" and drag it to your Firefox blank tab
Step 4) Accept the install and restart your browser.
DONE.

I freaking FINALLY have SP4.0 installed on my Firefox. My Extension folder was as follows:
C:\Users\[My username]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[random letters].default\extensions\{54affe52-8223-453b-be1e-2fe2e250045c}

Angel, thank you! We're still investigating the problem and it looks
like we might have a fix. You've found a work-around (good job!) that
would be reset with the next build without the fix. We'll update the
situation with the fix asap.
