IE8 crashes

I am trying out SP latest version downloaded today, but I just keep getting crashes in IE8. The browser tab (but not the whole program) then reboots itself and I can use the webpage for a few seconds and then in crashes again. I tried this with Yahoo and with a Bank. I have Windows 7 x64 version. I have avast Anti-Virus, Windows Defender and Firewall.
