Sticky Password & Trillian => How long to wait for bug fix?

I have reported the bug of whether Trillian ( messenger ) or Sticky Password long time ago. I was told SP staff are aware of the problem and will fix it.
I am on latest version of SP 5 and I note Trillian still freezes when SP is running! I also noticed the issue is resolved in SP v.6 beta! What about v.5?
Is this issue going to remain unresolved as far as I am not upgraded to v.6?
What if I have no plan to upgrade to v.6 ?
