Start-up of SP after boot takes 60-200 secs. All changes (ADD or Cancel) take 60-90 secs and lock up PC so that nothing else (except Task Manager) will run until SP finishes its process and releases. Task Manager shows CPU usage at solid 25% and 80MB of RAM when active.

Using Sticky Password (SP) PRO 5.0.6.249 on QUAD-core Windows 7x64 Pro/SP1.
~400 password items in database which reports ~8000 entries.
AntiVirus is Kaspersky AV 2012. Similar behavior on Norton AV 2012.

I like SP-Pro in general but will uninstall if this horrendous delay can't be eliminated.

Hello bobkat, which database encryption do you use?

You can access this information in Systray - Settings - Database - Encryption - Change

Encryption presently set to -- AES (Rijndael) 256-bit. Must have been default when I set up SP. However, as one of the shortest bit-lengths, it seems it should be quickest to en/decrypt.

Petr, since you asked about encryption methods, I looked around this forum. In another thread "Question about database encryption algorithm", ondrej.novak commented that "We suggest to use the default encryption (AES (Rijndael))." On that basis I won't be trying other encryptions unless someone has a good reason.

FWIW, my default.pws file is 2.6MB. I noticed in the thread mentioned above that others expect it to be only a few KB. I keep default.pws in a DATA partition (D:), not on C:.

How many accounts do you have? I suppose many (thousands) since your database is that big.

I see 182 Accounts when I right-click on the SP tray icon.

Out of curiosity I chose Manage Database, and waited for more than three minutes for it to open. That list showed 7318 accounts. The difference was 7100+ Bookmarks imported from Firefox! Apparently when I set up SP and asked it to import passwords from Firefox, it imported all saved items including bookmarks, not just passwords. Removing the bookmarks reduces my default.PWS files to 70 KB. SP now gives me a very reasonable response time.
