Data file password is expired?

Data file password is expired?

Postby akaalo » Thu Jan 24, 2013 6:20 pm

Hi.. support group!
When I export data file, the password set time limit should be confused as you enter back into Sticky Password is not work (I think this is the reason).
And now I do not know how to enter the data file back onto the Sticky Password after reinstalling my computer.
We hope to receive a response. Thank you.

Into which format have you exported your data? Which version of Sticky Password do you use?

Please update to the latest build through systray - help - check for updates. If that does not work since you have the Firefox hot fix, please do it manually from our download site: http://www.stickypassword.com/download?src=submenu

Then go to systray - Open Sticky Password - Import - Sticky Password - Load Passwords - locate the .pws file and press Open. It will probably ask for the Master Password, enter it and you should be fine. Let me know how that worked.

Dear petr.pinkas!

I've updated the version 6.0.7.436. And do it again but still no success.

I exported data file and now I re-enter the password, it is not true. I think the problem is in the Set time limit for the administrator password (file data). Although I have entered the correct password (correctly so) that is not true.

Please help me.

Master Password or the database file can not expire. Are you sure it is your correct Master Password - caps lock, switched language on the keyboard etc.
How exactly have you exported that database?

I have tried many times with a password I usually use, but is not work.
Is there a way to verify my file I exported, as it is located on my machine.

No, if it will be available, then we are out of business :) If you can not recall your Master Password, you have to create the database again from scratch, that is the only way, we do not have any tool or way how to reset the Master Password.

@akaalo:
The password expiration date which you can set during export IS NOT an expiration of the (master) password you need to open the exported database. It's purpose is different(*).

Please make sure you are not confusing two things:
- master password for the "main" database (i.e. the one you are importing into)
- master password for the "imported" database (i.e. password you used when you exported the data)

If you read carefully the text in unlock dialog, you notice the difference - it either says "password to UNLOCK the database" (i.e. password for the "main" DB), or "password to ACCESS the database" (i.e. password for the "imported" DB).

Looking at the screenshot, you are simply NOT entering the correct password.
The password DOES NOT expire, that assumption is incorrect.
