Trouble with Auto Form Fills

Postby The Sand » Thu Mar 28, 2013 10:27 pm

I am new to Sticky Password. I came from using Norton 360 password vault but when Norton decided in a recent update to go with only allowing the user to store their passwords via the cloud, I tried to find another solution to remain storing passwords locally on my machine. I decided on Stickpass and purchased several pro versions.

I have already seen the thread about Hotmail not auto-filling but as far as website logins I am not struggling too bad there. That has been fine.

My problem is Auto Form fill in. I haven't auto form filled anything that has credit card information successfully - nothing. Not from Zappos to Amazon - absolutely nothing. I have to take out my wallet for every single credit card purchase I make. Norton never missed one single auto fill for credit card purchases. For me this is a problem as it is a big reason I like password managers - so I don't have to constantly reach for my wallet and enter in the card info. Name and address never makes it for auto form fill either...

I am running Windows 8 Pro 64 bit Internet Explorer 10 (and I only run Internet Explorer 10 from the desktop - not from the Windows Start screen.)

I have had this program for several months now. Am I doing something wrong? I have all my info set up correctly within Stickypass. Is there some trick to get this program to fill in the credit card or address information? Is there some other program causing interference? Or are you not ready yet for Windows 8?

There has to be something wrong for it to just never fill in anything that has to do with a credit card - any credit card. I have 4 listed within the program. Sometimes I can get the expiration date to auto fill but never the credit card number.

Anybody recommendation would be helpful...

Hi,

do you mean that you have problems with Identities feature, right?

Could you please send me the URLs of these problematic pages?

I can't share the url because it is after I log in so I would be giving the forum a link to my account. A lot of big shopping website have you join the website and then shop.

Just to pick three well known companies I have not been successful at using credit auto fill are Amazon, Zappos and Victoria's Secret.

Here are the "general links" but you have to sign in to shop or give credit card info:

http://www.zappos.com/

http://www.amazon.com/

http://www.victoriassecret.com/
I think Victoria's Secret lets you check out as a guest...

I have accounts with all three and use Stickpass to login. But during checkout the credit card info will not auto fill the credit card number numbers. Sometimes I can see the expiration date change with each credit card I try to auto fill, but that is all.

Because I have never seen Stickypass auto fill any credit card I am thinking you are being interfered with but do not know buy who/what.

As I mentioned above I run Windows 8 Pro 64 bit IE10 and Norton 360.

I'm finding the same thing - in Firefox anyway. The Submit button on form fill does not prompt to save an identity. Can there not be be an option on the menu to save the form manually?

Ooops - I just found it - Add Identity works - however it doesn't save any dropdown selections - only form fields. And as I said on my other post about Web Accounts there should be an option to over write this with a new version without having to go into Edit.

If you submit a registration form, saving Identity is offered automatically only if you don't have any Identity saved yet.
To save additional Identities, you need to do it manually using the Identities / Add Identity Caption Button menu.

Identity saves only values from fields which are recognized as fields contained in the Identity. No additional values can be saved.

We can also add to websites where credit card auto fill does not work...

Bloomingdales.com
Sephora.com
Oldnavy.com
gap.com
drugstore.com
beauty.com

the list is endless. It doesn't not work in my environment which is IE10, Windows 8 Pro 64 bit. Hopefully in the future there will be an update to fix this.

and Starbucks... to refill their coffee card...
https://www.starbucks.com/account/home

Oddly the expiration date and the "validation code" gets passed, but not the card number itself.

Tonight I checked out at freshpair.com and Stickypass filled in the credit card info! Freshpair.com is the first website I have been able to autofill credit card info. This shows me it is actually possible! I was very excited - I get so tired of taking out my wallet constantly and manually entering in card info. Hopefully there will be better compatibility in the future...

Just wanted to pass along that it actually can work!

Remember, it heavily depends on how comprehensive names give the website creators to the form fields.
If Sticky is able to understand from the field names/IDs which field serves which purpose, it fills them with proper values. If the creators give the fields cryptic (e.g. randomly generated, as some banks do) or somehow else unfortunate names that Sticky can't even guess from the name what field is it, then it can't work.

Thanks Evzen, it is understandable that SP must be able to identify the fields in some way. What do you think about the Bits Du Jour issue? URL: viewtopic.php?f=76&p=99378#p99377

I am not a web specialist, but the field names appear to be "txtUsernameLogin" and "txtPasswordLogin".

I now have several sites where the autofill does not work. (I have opened a support ticket.) At one site the only solution is manual edit and copy/paste, the BitsDuJour technique does not work. The fields have these properties: id="txtLoginBoxUsername" class="usrname" and id="txtLoginBoxPassword" class="password".

And I have to say, it disappoints me: If I enable “Identity Safe” in Norton Internet Security, NIS IDSafe has no problems with these sites! UGH!
