Login/Password Hotkeys

Login/Password Hotkeys

Postby chaosxian » Wed May 01, 2013 7:56 pm

I'd like to see a simple hot key that would grab the login and password when a sticky record is highlighted in Web and App Accounts.

For example...

F2: Copy login to clipboard
F3: Copy password to clipboard

Thank you!

Thank you for your suggestion.

For which purposes would such feature be useful?

There's 2 situations I run into...

1. Occasionally Sticky does not autoload the login and password to a site, so I must do so manually. This seems to happen more often in Chrome than Firefox.

2. Some sites seem to have frequently changing URLs, or a multitude of URLs, depending how you login. For example Google sites. Gmail links change frequently and may different from Google Latitude, Reader, Drive, Contacts, etc. Often if I start in one of these auxilary sites, I see that my GMail credentials aren't passed to the browser. Where I can, I try to edit the record to use the domain only as a login.

A related case is where I respond through an email link to a forum topic I've subscribed. Often, I'm required to login through the topic link, which may look quite different than the main forum sign-in.

Since Sticky defaults to the Quick Access view... the quickest copy login route is 4 clicks once the record is found. And another 4 clicks for the password...

[Edit: Deleted resolved right-click issue]

FWIW, my Sticky 6.0.9.439 doesn't launch the Account if i rightclick it in Quick Access list.

That's interesting. Mine no longer does either. I have no idea why, but when I initially installed Sticky (an earlier version?) this caused me several problems when I inadvertently launched sites I was attempting to edit (which isn't presently possible in Quick Access.

Thank you for your suggestion.

I many cases (like on Google), clicking on the Caption Button and selecting the login from the menu could help you.
