Industry experts gather at annual cyber security conference
The Moscone Center in San Francisco is currently hosting information security and business leaders for a conference regarding the current state of the online security industry. The annual RSA Conference runs through March 2 and includes resources to help organizations address future threats, RSA recently announced.
"With the rising number of hacking threats and personal technologies flooding the workplace, evolution has been top of mind for many of us over the past year," noted RSA Conference general manager Sandra Toms LaPedis. "In response to these changes, we must be armed with the latest resources and knowledge to stay ahead of vulnerabilities."
Some of the scheduled events during the RSA Conference include discussions on the future of government data security and the growth of so-called hacktivism, among others.
Online security attacks not only continue to plague businesses, but consumers as well. According to a recent study conducted by Javelin Strategy & Research, identity theft incidents in the United States increased by 13 percent in 2011. The number of Americans impacted by security breaches last year increased by 67 percent and these victims were 10 times more likely to suffer identity theft.
