Customers of the popular U.K. ticketing service TicketWeb may have been surprised recently after receiving malicious emails as a result of an online security breach. The company said in a statement that some people may have received messages with subject lines stating immediate action is required, including the need to update their Adobe PDF applications.

"We have discovered that our TicketWeb U.K. direct email marketing system was exposed to unauthorized access," the company stated. "We sincerely regret any inconvenience this has caused. We are continuing to investigate this unauthorized access, and will send you a follow-up email when we have additional information."

TicketWeb said it has taken appropriate steps to address the security issues and added that it believes no sensitive information was obtained during the breach.

The Inquirer reported that it received several emails claiming to be from Adobe. The news source said it did not, however, find a follow-up message for the ploy.

To ensure their credit card and other personal information remains safe from hackers, people can use password manager software to address these fears. The solutions are especially effective for people who have the same password for all of their accounts.
