September 5, 2006 - Sticky Password 3.0 has been released

The latest version of our innovative password manager has been released. This version introduces new time-saving features and improves whole usability. Here are the details:

     Unlocking database using USB or bluetooth device
     Portable version - all your passwords at hand!
     Password assistant that catches passwords when you enter them in programs or web browsers
     Internet Explorer 7 support
     Quick run box - context search for account and instant activation

Alternate authorization methods - in this version you can unlock Sticky Password's database using USB-dongle, Flash Drive or any bluetooth enabled device. Just go to Sticky Password settings dialog and switch to "Database Authorization" page. Choose activation method and specify details:

The following authentication methods are currently available:

      Never request password - the password is stored on your computer in protected form. Sticky Password will never ask for it, but don't forget your master password because you'll need it to migrate to other computers or to change the authentication method.

      Removable device - this authentication method allows you to use any USB compatible device to unlock Sticky Password's database. This could be USB storage, MP3 player or Pocket PC. Just insert the device to USB port to unlock Sticky Password and remove it to lock.

      Bluetooth device - this authentication method allows you to setup any Bluetooth enabled device to unlock the password storage when it appears in the range of visibility for bluetooth device of your computer. The database will be automatically locked when bluetooth device becomes unvisible for your computer (the standard bluetooth range is 10 metres).

With this new feature, that makes possible to automatically unlock Sticky Password when some USB device has been inserted, you are getting new opportunity - you can store your passwords database on the USB storage device which also will operate as unlock key for the database.

To configure Sticky Password for this mode, you need to perform the following steps:

1. Insert the USB storage device in USB port.

2. Go to Sticky Password Settings, choose "Database" page and specify the location of database file on the USB storage device.

3. Switch to "Database authorization" page, choose "Removable device" from the list and choose your USB Storage device as activation device for Sticky Password.

After you click OK button, Sticky Password will copy your database on the removable device, which will be also used to lock/unlock the database.

Portable version of Sticky Password. Our motto now becomes a truth! Now you can have all your passworts at hand. All your passwords can be copied to any removable device like USB drive or compact disk. You'll be able to run Sticky Password from this portable storage and use it on any computer with Microsoft Windows installed.

You can easily create the portable version: just go to "Settings" dialog and switch to "Portable version" page. Click the button "Create portable version" and follow the Wizard steps.

Sticky Password will copy all required files and your password database on the removable device and you will be able to run it on any computer. Later you can run Sticky Password from portable device on any computer, just insert the USB drive and run the program.

Password assistant feature makes Sticky Password less visible, but more useful in your work. Sticky Password will automatically offer you to remember the password when you are logging in to some web site or program account.

 

Internet Explorer 7 support - this version of Sticky Password introduces full support for this new web browser version from Microsoft.

 

Quick run box - this feature for users who likes to save time using keyboard shortcuts. Just press a shortcut, type the part of account's name and hit Enter. The web site or linked program will be immediately activated and login/password fields will be filled in.
