Check if your Internet Explorer is running in 32-bit mode:

1.Go to Internet Options, select the Advanced tab

2.In the Settings list scroll down to Security section and verify that the Enable Enhanced Protected Mode check box is cleared. If it´s not unchecked, uncheck it.

3.Restart your system.

Enhanced Protected Mode is a security feature that was introduced in Windows 8 and is now enabled by default in Internet Explorer on the Windows 8.1. Enhanced Protected Mode isolates untrusted web content in a restricted environment that's known as an AppContainer. EPM is an additional layer of protection. If you switch this feature off because you need to use an add-on, the overall security is still on the same level as was in the previous versions of Windows.

I have been unable to get the browser button to appear on IE11 after following the above. I am running Win 7/64bit.
It is enabled in the Add-ons sections and I unchecked the security settings and run the IE app from the (X86) folder.
I have uninstalled and re-installed from the SP Settings menu.

Any other suggestions? It works on my Windows 8 machine using IE11.
