FX closing and tab loading

Postby UPieper » Wed Nov 25, 2009 9:00 am

Hi,

since I installed SP4 I noticed the following 2 problems:

- When starting or restarting Firefox some tabs keep loading forever (about 8 from 27 tabs, sometimes less sometimes more)
- When closing Firefox the window is gone BUT it's still lingering in task manager, so that I have to kill it if I want to restart Firefox.

-> Both of the symptoms disappear if SP4 is exited...and both were not present in SP3

Regards,

Hi,

- aren't those Firefox tabs waiting for entering password? Or for any action?
- what do you mean byt the "window is gone" ? The Firefox window or Sticky Password systray icon?

Hi,

I've installed 4.0.0.412 and the problem persists. I noticed one thing though, that on a fresh install of SP4 before importing the database with my passwords from SP3, everything works fine. As soon as I import the database, some tabs keep loading forever and I can't properly exit Firefox.

Regards,

UP

Hi,

I tried the new version and the behaviour is still the same: everything is fine until I import my old logins. Could it be a problem that I have about 120 logins?

Hi,

we have fixed it, but it is not included in the latest build. I'll let you know as soon as we'll upload the new version with this issue fixed.

Thank you for participation and for you patience.

Hi,

I'm happy to report that the new version (154) seems to have fixed the problem!

PS: Since I've installed V4 of SP there's lots of traffic on port 443. What's that? Is there a way to stop that? If not, I'd like to request to make that an option, since I have already enough security measures in place

Try to download the TCPViewer application from Microsoft:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysi ... 97437.aspx

TCPView is a Windows program that will show you detailed listings of all TCP and UDP endpoints on your system, including the local and remote addresses and state of TCP connections. On Windows Server 2008, Vista, and XP, TCPView also reports the name of the process that owns the endpoint

Then have a look at stpass.exe activity and let me know.

Hi Petr,

the heavy activity happened only once and it was firefox continiously connecting through port 443 and it was right after installing SP....so I thought it had to do with SP...maybe that wasn't the case...I must also add that I have disbabled now in Firefox the "block reported web forgeries/attack sites" function....

By the way, the originally reported problem with Firefox tab loading and Firefox closing happened again, but only once out of 20 Firefox sessions I'd say.

Another thing I noticed is that it takes about 20 seconds to startup my second Firefox window (I have one window with misc. sites and another one with financial sites which is placed on a second monitor) when SP4 is running, whereas it loaded instantaneously with SP V3.

It seems I got rid of the problem by disabling the "next generation" Java plugin and the Java quick starter. Since I did that, the tabs load normally....I did about 30 FX restarts and it didn't happen again. I keep my fingers crossed....

That is great. Please don't forget to install the latest build form Friday 26th. It has slightly improved user interface and improved form filling.
