IE-8 32 bit & 64 bit

Post by tveard » Mon Feb 20, 2012 10:28 pm

IE-8 installs both a 32 bit and a 64 bit version. But, Windows 7 defaults to use the 32 bit version, which is often unstable (it hangs) on a Windows 7 64 bit computer. Microsoft support often suggests "manually" launching the 64 bit version, which seems to be stable. It's merely a matter of picking:

"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" for 64 bit
vs
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"

However, if you do run the 64 bit version, Sticky Password is not recognized as being installed. Sticky Password, as expected, is installed on the "default" verion ... 32 bit.

Is there anyway to force Sticky Password to attach itself to the 64 bit version?

Microsoft claims, "by design", that the 64 bit version cannot be the default. I've tried changing entries in the registry, but it doesn't seem to matter.

Hi,

unfortunately at this time Sticky Password doesn´t support 64bit applications. You can run Sticky Password on 64bit systems but only with 32bit applications. That´s the reason why we officially doesn´t support 64bit systems. You can check it at:

We have a 64bit version in our plans. We hope that it could be available during this year.

Thank you for understanding.

Thanks for the reply. Sticky Password is one of my all time favorite products and will remain so, even if you never support 64 bit.
