Caption button wierdness

Caption button wierdness

Postby MrMNO » Sun May 19, 2013 4:37 am

This is weird I know, but it is the truth. Please help correct this issue.

I upgraded to IE 10 and hated it. I uninstalled IE 10 taking me back to IE9 and the caption button is missing, So I come here to the forum to read up on what to do and I notice, that the button is back. Great right? No!
As soon as I close my browser and open it back up the caption button is gone again. I come here, it is back :o

Close it its gone. Go to the SP home page its back. What the heck is up with that? For now I have to open my browser by clicking the web site or forum link from SP to have my caption button.

I have reinstalled it and no difference. Also I read where I can uninstall from SP control panel but the uninstall button only shows for firefox, not IE. I use both browsers so any help on this would be appreciated.

Try to launch Sticky as Administrator - rightclick on SP shortcut (on Desktop or in Start menu) and select "Run as administrator" from the context menu.
It might help to sort out some Sticky internals like properly switch from IE toolbar (which should have been installed for IE10 on your 64-bit OS) back to Caption Button (which is used for IE9). If that helps and you'll get the Caption Button back, you can exit Sticky and then re-launch it as usually.

Hi,

are you using a 32bit or a 64bit version of IE please? 64bit applications are not supported.

Best regards,

I am using 32 bit.

Maybe I am not making myself clear.

1. I open IE normally using link from desktop or task bar and the caption button is not present.

2. I right click on SP and then help click the link to your web site or forum and the caption button is present, works and will remain until I close IE.

So SP is working, I am using IE 32 bit but the caption button will only appear if I route the steps in number 2

I believe that in the step 2 it doesn't need to be SP forum site only, but ANY site for which you have account in database, right?

Did you try to uninstall (ideally without keeping the current settings - to clean up eventual weirdness from registry) and reinstall?
If that doesn't work, I'd suggest sending your system info to Sticky support.
