App log in .. can i do this

Postby jimc » Thu May 09, 2013 1:30 am

Probably a dumb question but I thought I would ask

Can I use Sticky to open a password protected excel (2010) file.
Normal execution is I:
> open excel >Open "file x" - which has been saved with password protection
A pop up window is then displayed asking for the password.
Thanks & have a great day;(ok to PM/EMAIL me)

I don't believe this is possible... I've tried it many ways with LibreOffice without success. I'd guess that Excel would be similar. Perhaps someone will offer a solution.

Maybe it is possible in a usable way. First, please read aleksandr.voloshko's post at viewtopic.php?f=73&t=85180&p=97250#p97237. The topic is about TrueCrypt where a Sticky Password caption button appears when the program asks for the password.

My old MS Office license is uninstalled, today I am using OpenOffice.Org. The PW dialog has no caption button in the password dialog. What about Excel?

I find two alternatives:
1 – One single account with several logins
URL = scalc.exe, one login per spreadsheet
2 – Multiple accounts (one per spreadsheet)
URL = <full path>spreadsheet file

I prefer alternative 2, the attached screenshots explain the procedure.

Anybody with a better solution?

BTW, It is pleasant how I easily can organize my database in the way I like it!
