CV2 Code treated as “password”

Postby John Flyer » Fri Apr 26, 2013 4:12 pm

When I use my credit card to perform an Internet payment, the site usually asks for the CV2 code (validation code). At this stage Sticky pops up with a balloon with “Generate password”. This must be a malfunction.

Hi,

could you please send me an example of a site where it happens?

Best regards,

Unfortunately this is a very common behavior from SP. I have a screenshot from the last event.

SP wants to generate PW for Validation Code

The CVV2 field is apparently unfortunately-named - it contains the "password" word or something what makes Sticky think it's a password field (and does NOT contain anything what would convince Sticky that it's a CVV2 field).

So, not really a malfunction, but rather an unfortunate coincidence...

I am also a Sticky fan! But, I expect Sticky to adapt to the world. It is not the world who has to adapt to Sticky. ): Fortunately the SP team agree with me, they have promised “We will try to fix it.”

BTW, through the manual edit procedure in SP, the field name seems to be “ctl06$securityCode”. Do you still claim that “The CVV2 field is apparently unfortunately-named”?

I have no idea what's in the SP's mind... All I know is that I have seen the CVV2 field autofilled fine (as well as NOT autofilled), but I have never seen the password generator popping up in the CVV2 field. All that on the sites I use... others may have different experience, of course...

If it only would be so easy to "adapt to the world" every time we need it...
Some webmasters use "SecurityCode" text for CVV2 field, others may use it for password field and others for captcha code... some of them use English for naming the fields and some use their local language... how would you solve this puzzle?

But the puzzle is not more difficult to Sticky than to other vendors of this kind of application?
