Phone home feature

Hello

I've just tested Sticky Password. This software seems good, but i have a question about an unwanted "feature".

I've turned off the automatic update check. But at each time i launch the software, it phones home and transmit an encrypted file.

So, why is data sent, if automatic update check is disabled ?

I would like to get a build with this phone home "feature" removed.

Our application tries to connect to our servers just to ask if there is some update available and if it is, we will display you the update notice that a new version is available. Of course you can disable the automatic update feature in Settings if you want, but you will also have to manually check for updates in the future, which will again initiate network connectivity.

Security note: Sticky Password does not transmit any Passwords, Logins, Secure Memos, Bookmarks or Identities information during this operation. The information transmitted concerns the proper functioning of Sticky Password, updates and new releases. Be assured that your Passwords and other database information are stored safely in the encrypted database.

In our TRIAL version the application calls home every day, but once you will buy the PRO version and disable automatic updates, it will not transmit any data.

That will scare away many who try the program, worse still, when words are spread around they will even scare away many from trying it.

@petr.Pinkas :
Jegika clearly states (twice) that the automatic update function has been turned OFF.
So why do you mention this feature in order to explain the online activity?
Or are you saying that the software checks for updates even though it has been instructed NOT to do so?

Hi StickyBob,

no, Sticky Password doesn´t check for updates if you disable this option.
