Import troubles from NORTON Identity Safe

Post by moods » Fri Mar 15, 2013 8:06 pm

I exported my current Sticky passwords in the PLAIN TXT format. I then added to this file in the exact same format, hundreds of my accounts that I exported from Norton in a CSV file. The format in the Sticky plain txt file is:

Account name: ???
Link: http://www.???.???
Login: ???
Password: ???

Account name: ???
Link: http://www.???.???
Login: ???
Password: ???

etc.

I then RENAMED this file INI and tried to import it via the Sticky method (from exported file). Sticky gives the following error message after I choose OVERWRITE, "This file does not contain new or modified data." EXCEPT, the new file contains 100's of new accounts in the exact format as above.

Thank you for your help.

You went a completely wrong way... the TXT export is intended rather for hardcopies. And renaming it to INI won't make it anything different.

Check out this thread, this should work for you:

Evzen's suggestion to use the LastPass option works like a charm!

Export your Norton Identity Safe to a CSV file:

Code: Select all

url,username,password,name,grouping,extra
http://example.domain.com,UserName,PassWord,WebName,GroupA,
http://www.domain2.com,LogIn,password,WebName2,GroupB,
Modify the file to read like this:

Code: Select all

url,username,password,extra,name,grouping,fav
http://example.domain.com,UserName,PassWord,,WebName,GroupA,0
http://www.domain2.com,LogIn,password,,WebName2,GroupB,0
Tip: Use a spreadsheet application to modify the file (insert Col D with 'extra' and change Col G from 'extra' to 'fav' and insert 0 on all lines).

Good luck, moods!
