By "not functional", I meant that Firefox worked normal, leaving the user and passwords blank, as if SP was not installed.
After posting this message, I inquired in other areas of the forums and found a different type of browser incompatibility issue, so I gave it a try. Basically, the suggestion was to go into the SP settings and check to see if the browser was disabled. Mine was not, however, it did have an error symbol. I uninstalled it and then installed it again. That did the trick.
