Biometrics: fingerprint authentication on your iPhone

Sticky Password supports fingerprint and facial authentication on iOS devices. You can unlock your password database on iOS smartphones and tablets using Touch ID or Face ID recognition.

In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to set up fingerprint authentication (Touch ID) for unlocking Sticky Password on your iOS device. If you would like to set up facial authentication (Face ID), please check out our tutorial Biometrics: facial authentication on your iPhone.

Setting up the Touch ID

First — if you already haven’t done it — you have to set up your Touch ID. If you have your Touch ID already set up, you can skip to the second part of this tutorial.

  1. Tap the Settings icon on your iOS device. Biometrics: Touch ID and Face ID authentication on your iPhone or iPad - tap Settings.

  2. Scroll down and tap Touch ID & Passcode. Biometrics: Touch ID and Face ID authentication on your iPhone or iPad - tap Touch ID.

  3. Tap Add a Fingerprint... Biometrics: Touch ID and Face ID authentication on your iPhone or iPad - Add Fingerprint.

  4. Follow the instructions on your screen and go through the wizard. You’ll be prompted to lift and rest your finger on the home button several times. After the initial scan is completed, you'll be asked to adjust your grip to capture the edges of your fingerprint.

  5. After you set up Touch ID, your fingerprint will be added to the list of fingerprints authorized for your iPhone.

Setting up Sticky Password to work with Touch ID

Now, let’s set up Sticky Password to use Touch ID authentication for unlock.

  1. Run Sticky Password. Tap the Menu button in the top left corner. Biometrics: Touch ID and Face ID authentication on your iPhone or iPad tap Menu.

  2. Tap Settings. Biometrics: Touch ID and Face ID authentication on your iPhone or iPad + tap Settings.

  3. Tap App Protection. Biometrics: Touch ID and Face ID authentication on your iPhone or iPad - tap App Protection.

  4. Enter your Master Password and tap OK. Biometrics: Touch ID and Face ID authentication on your iPhone or iPad - Enter your Master Password.

  5. Tap Protection type. Biometrics: Touch ID and Face ID authentication on your iPhone or iPad - Tap Protection type.

  6. Select Touch ID. Biometrics: Touch ID and Face ID authentication on your iPhone or iPad - Select touch ID.

  7. Tap OK. Biometrics: Touch ID and Face ID authentication on your iPhone or iPad. - tap Ok.

  8. You’re all set! Now you can unlock Sticky Password using your fingerprint.

    Note: To unlock Sticky Password with your Master Password instead of your fingerprint, simply tap Cancel when prompted. Biometrics: Touch ID and Face ID authentication on your iPhone or iPad. - to unlock with Master Password tap Cancel.
