How to Securely Export Data from Sticky Password on iPhone and iPad

iOS

You can export your passwords from Sticky Password on your iPhone or iPad if you want to create a backup or move your passwords to another password manager.

Sticky Password lets you select which items to export and save them to a file. Exporting is supported across platforms, including iOS and iPadOS, and the export flow includes selecting items and saving them as a protected Sticky Password database or Sticky Password XML format.

Before you export passwords from Sticky Password

Exported files may contain your passwords in a readable or less protected form. For better safety, choose a password-protected export whenever possible. Save the exported file only to a secure location and delete it when you no longer need it.

This is especially important on iPhone and iPad because exported files may be saved to the Files app, iCloud Drive, or another location available on your device.

Export your passwords on iPhone or iPad

  1. Open Sticky Password on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Tap Import/Export.
  4. Tap Export your data.
  5. Select the passwords or other items you want to export.
  6. Tap Export.
  7. Choose the export format:
    • Protected Sticky Password file — Use this option if you want to keep the exported file protected with a password. This is the safer choice.
    • Unprotected Sticky Password file — Use this option only if you specifically need an unprotected file for another app or service.
  8. If you choose a protected file, create and confirm the password for the exported file.
  9. When the export is ready, save or share the file to another app.

After exporting passwords from Sticky Password

Keep the exported file safe. Anyone who can open an unprotected export file may be able to see your passwords.

If you exported your passwords only to import them into another password manager, delete the exported file from your iPhone or iPad after the import is complete. Also check whether the file was saved to iCloud Drive or another cloud storage location and remove it there too.

Tips for safer password export on iPhone and iPad

  • Use a protected Sticky Password file whenever possible.
  • Use a strong password for the exported file.
  • Do not send the exported file by email or messenger unless you are sure it is protected.
  • Delete the exported file after you finish using it.
