How to import passwords from a file to Sticky Password on Android

Android

This article explains how to import passwords to Sticky Password for Android using a file exported from another password manager or browser.

The recommended way is to import your passwords directly from another app without creating an export file. See how to import passwords directly on Android. Use file import only if direct import is not available for your current app.

Sticky Password processes the import file only on your device. Your file is not uploaded to Sticky Password servers during import.

Before you start

Export your passwords from the password manager or browser you currently use. If you need help creating the export file, see the instructions referenced at the bottom of this page.

Save the exported file somewhere easy to find on your Android device, such as Downloads, Files or Google Drive.

Import passwords from a file on Android

  1. Open Sticky Password on your Android device.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Tap Import/Export.
  4. Tap Import your data.
  5. Choose the password manager or browser that created the exported file.
  6. Tap I have the file.
  7. Select the exported password file from your Android device.
  8. If the file is protected with a password, enter the password used when the file was exported.
  9. Sticky Password will scan the file and show the passwords it found.
  10. Select the passwords you want to import. You can tap any item in the list to preview it before importing.
  11. Tap Import.
  12. Wait until the import is complete.
  13. Tap Show my accounts to see your imported passwords.

After the import

Open several imported accounts and check that the website, username, and password were imported correctly.

After you confirm that the import was successful, delete the exported file from your Android device. Exported password files may contain sensitive information, depending on the app they came from.

If Sticky Password cannot import the file

Make sure that:

  • you selected the same password manager or browser that created the export file;
  • the file was exported from that app and not manually edited;
  • the file was not damaged;
  • you entered the correct file password, if the file is protected.

If the file still cannot be imported, export your passwords again from the original password manager or browser and try importing the new file.
