- Why should I use a password manager?
Passwords are the most popular form of authentication and they are often the only barrier between your personal information and a malicious person trying to steal it. The safest password technique is to create a new, strong password for each account.
Of course, it would be inefficient to try to remember so many different passwords. We are proud to offer you Sticky Password Manager - a program designed to protect your passwords and provide effortless, authorized, access to them.
Sticky Password holds all your passwords.
It seems that a day doesn't go by that we don't have to create a login and password for a new website or application. Remembering them all is impossible, and writing them down on a piece of paper or in a text file saved on your computer desktop is a security risk. Sticky Password stores all of your passwords in an encrypted file on your computer to which only you have the Master Password – the only password that you'll have to remember from now on.More secure passwords.
Names of pets, birthdays and the nicknames of your children are examples of words that should never be used as passwords! As a general rule, if you can remember your passwords, then someone can probably guess them. With Sticky Password, you'll be able to take advantage of the built-in password generator that not only creates strong passwords (combinations of various lengths of letters and special characters that are nearly impossible to guess), but also stores them safely where no one but you can get to them. Your passwords will be much stronger, and you'll have the peace of mind knowing that they are securely stored.Protection against phishing.
Sticky Password is able to identify exactly the website address (url) that your bank or other secure website should be directed to. You no longer have to worry about being fooled by fake sites that try to trick you by a similar appearance or other phishing gimmicks. Sticky Password will stop any stealthy re-direction and warn you! You'll enjoy safer access to all your password protected sites knowing that Sticky Password is protecting you.Automatic login and form filling.
A big reason to have a password manager is to save yourself the hassle of having to enter your login and password information on all those sites you visit. Sticky Password recognizes your sites and logs you in automatically! In addition, with Sticky Password, you'll also be able to complete online forms with the click of a button.
- What's the difference between using Sticky Password and the password saving feature included in some browsers?
Unlike the password saving and auto-complete features of web browsers, which are limited to the websites accessed through only that specific browser, Sticky Password makes your passwords available when surfing the web with major browsers (Internet Explorer, Fire Fox, Sea Monkey, Flock and others) no matter which browser you used to create a password account. And, with support for many of the programs that you run on your computer every day, Sticky Password is there for you even when you aren't surfing the web!
Sticky Password offers the extra security of being able to easily lock and unlock access to your passwords! You'll have the comfort of being able to leave your computer unattended without having to worry about your passwords being misused.
Sticky Password is portable, so you can take your passwords with you. Feel secure accessing your password protected sites at the library, in Internet cafes, wherever you go!
Sticky Password helps ensure that your passwords are secure with the built-in password strength gauge! And, Sticky Password can remember multiple passwords for a single account, which is not possible with browser password managers.
With Sticky Password, you get all of these features and more in a single application!
And, all you have to do is remember 1 password!
- Can I use Sticky Password together with the password saving feature in my browser?
It is not recommended to use Sticky Password simultaneously with the built-in password saving and auto-fill features of browsers. Conflict may arise when both applications try to populate your password and login data at the same time and the result will likely be that the data is inaccurate. Of course, the same applies to trying to use multiple password managers simultaneously – it is not recommended to do this.
- Can Sticky Password help protect me from phishing scams?
Sticky Password protects you from phishing scams because it knows the actual Internet address of the websites you have authorized as safe for your passwords. When scammers attempt to get access to your financial and other data with fraudulent addresses, Sticky Password warns you that you have been re-directed from the legitimate websites. Find out more about phishing.

(You will be asked to enter your Master Password even in the event that you have chosen "No authorization" as your authorization method in the Settings menu.)
- Can I import my passwords from another program?
Sticky Password allows you to import your passwords from other installations of Sticky Password as well as from other password management programs. When importing passwords, choose whether to overwrite all accounts in Sticky Password, or to append the imported accounts to the existing accounts in the database.
- Why do I need a Master Password?
Sticky Password allows you to store all of your password and sensitive login information in a secure encrypted format that only you can access and use! The Master Password that you create is your key that ensures that no one can get to your passwords and misuse them. Of course, you can change your Master Password as frequently as you would like to ensure that it remains secret.
- Sticky Password prompts me to enter my Master Password. Where can I find my Master Password?
The Master Password is the password that you created during the installation and set-up of Sticky Password. This is the only password you will need to remember, and it is critical that you do not lose or forget this password. Without the Master Password it is not possible to unlock and access your password database or to use Sticky Password.

- What is a "Registration Key"? What is a "License Key"?
Sticky Password 3 and earlier versions required a Registration Key to activate the full functionality of the product. The purchase and software activation process has been simplified for Sticky Password 4 and 5, and we have also begun using "License Keys" for the activation code. Note that Registration Keys from Sticky Password 3 (and earlier versions) are not compatible with Sticky Password 4 and 5 – and vice versa.
A License Key is necessary to activate the full functionality of Sticky Password 5.
- I'm upgrading to Sticky Password 5.0. Should I back up my Sticky Password 4.0 (or earlier version) database?
When installing Sticky Password 5.0 on a computer where an earlier version of Sticky Password is already installed (i.e. Sticky Password 4.1, 4.0, Sticky Password 3), all of the data from your existing database will automatically be imported into Sticky Password 5.0. Because of the newly designed database used in Sticky Password 5.0, a migration to earlier versions of Sticky Password is not supported. For this reason, we recommended that you save a copy of your current password database, just in case you decide for any reason to reinstall your previous version of Sticky Password.
To make a copy of your database:
Copy the default.pws file, which can be found in the My documents/Sticky Passwords folder, and save it in another location (folder) on your computer. If you wish to save it in the same folder, it will be necessary to change the name of the file (e.g. oldpassworddatabase.pws).
- Is it possible to install Sticky Password on a USB flash drive?
Yes, each Sticky Password license includes the Portable Version. To install the Portable Version, click on the Sticky Password icon in the systray – go to Portable Version and follow the step-by-step instructions. Note that you will need to insert the USB stick into your computer during the installation process.
- How can I uninstall Sticky Password?
To uninstall Sticky Password go to the Start menu in Windows (typically located in the lower left corner on the computer desktop) – select Programs – then locate and extend the Sticky Password menu – click on Uninstall Sticky Password.
Warning: after uninstalling Sticky Password, you will no longer be able to access the passwords in the password database! (Note: deleting Sticky Password will note delete the encrypted password database. This file can be accessed only through Sticky Password. To access the file in the future, it will be necessary to re-install Sticky Password on the computer.)

- Firefox remains in memory
This is a problem known to Firefox. The following is from the Firefox support pages, which can be found at http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+is+already+running+but+is+not+responding.
Sometimes when you close Firefox, it may stop responding and remain in memory, even though no Firefox windows are open. This can prevent Firefox from working properly the next time you open it or you may see a "Close Firefox" dialog box with the message, Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system.. You must then end all Firefox processes or restart the computer before you can reopen Firefox. (See Firefox is already running but is not responding for other causes and solutions.)
If Firefox processes that remain in memory at exit are a recurring problem, try these solutions:
A problematic extension can cause the problem, which can be resolved by disabling or uninstalling the extension. For information on diagnosing and fixing problems caused by faulty extensions, see the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article.
Sometimes Java applets can cause the Firefox process to persist after exit. Try updating Java to the latest version or, if you don't need the Java plugin, you can disable it from the Plugins panel of the Firefox Add-ons window. For more information, see Using the Java plugin with Firefox.
